Harpsichordist Hélène Diot presents a captivating exploration of 17th-century organ music, charting a musical journey between Amsterdam and London. The program unites Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, William Byrd, and Orlando Gibbons—three masters whose toccatas, fantasies, and variations reflect the vibrant exchange of ideas across Europe. Sweelinck, both heir to the polyphonic tradition and teacher to a new generation of organists, stands at the heart of this encounter. His visionary synthesis of English and Italian styles bridges Renaissance and Baroque, revealing an artistry that would later inspire Bach. Diot’s interpretation illuminates this rich musical dialogue across time and place.

Born in 1987, French harpsichordist Hélène Diot began studying at age six and trained at the conservatories of Amiens and Boulogne-Billancourt, earning top honors before completing her master’s degree in instrumental performance at the Lyon National Conservatory in 2012. She refined her artistry in masterclasses with Pierre Hantaï, Christophe Rousset, and others. Performing widely across Europe, Diot has collaborated with ensembles such as Concerto Soave, the Orchestre de Picardie, and Cappella Mediterranea under Leonardo Garcia Alarcon. Her acclaimed recording of Handel’s Samson (2018) earned major critical praise. A passionate educator, she teaches at the Amiens Regional Conservatory, where she leads the Early Music Department.
