This new IBS Classical release reunites pianist Miriam Gómez-Morán with the label after her praised triple album of Liszt’s Années de Pèlerinage. Recorded at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, the album focuses on Beethoven’s Pathétique, Moonlight, and Waldstein Sonatas. Gómez-Morán combines scholarly understanding with expressive nuance, emphasizing Beethoven’s dramatic contrasts, formal clarity, and spiritual depth. Her interpretation moves from the forceful intensity of the Pathétique to the haunting atmosphere of the Moonlight, culminating in the brilliance and energy of the Waldstein. The result is a thoughtfully shaped and compelling portrait of Beethoven’s pianistic vision.

Miriam Gómez-Morán, born in Madrid in 1974 and trained in Spain, Budapest, and Freiburg, is recognized as one of Spain’s most versatile pianists. Her international career spans Europe, North America, and Asia, and her artistic work blends performance with in-depth research on historical keyboards, performance practice, and the music of Franz Liszt, the focus of her doctoral dissertation. A prizewinner in multiple competitions and an active chamber musician, she currently serves as Professor of Piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla y León.
