Sandro Laffranchini started to play cello when he was five, under his father’s guide. After the graduation at Conservatorio di Milano, he studied in Basel with T. Demenga, in Brescia with M . Brunello and in Cremona with R. Filippini. Since 2000 Laffranchini is the solo principal cellist in Teatro alla Scala of Milan. He plays a 1692 Francesco Ruggieri cello called “il Per”, made in Cremona, and a Carlo Antonio Testore, Milano 1730, when he plays old italian repertoire.

Michele Gamba was born in Milan where he completed his musical studies at Conservatorio "G. Verdi" and read Philosophy at Milan State University. He subsequently attended piano masterclasses with Maria Tipo at the  Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, studied chamber music at the Royal Academy in London  and orchestral conducting at Accademia Chigiana di Siena and Vienna Musikhochschule. After his assistantships with Antonio Pappano and Daniel Barenboim, he made his debut at Milan Teatro alla Scala in 2016 he has developped a strong collaboration with the famous opera house and orchestra.
