Narciso Yepes (1927–1997) was a renowned Spanish classical guitarist, celebrated for his virtuosity and expressive playing. Born in Lorca, Spain, Yepes began his musical studies at a young age and later studied at the Madrid Royal Conservatory. He became famous for his interpretations of both Spanish and international guitar repertoires, and his mastery of the instrument earned him widespread acclaim.
One of his key contributions to guitar music was his development of the 10-string guitar, which allowed for a broader range of tones and greater expressive possibilities. Yepes also recorded extensively and performed worldwide, earning recognition as one of the greatest classical guitarists of the 20th century. His performances and recordings continue to influence and inspire guitarists today.
