Pianist Young Hyun Cho is an internationally acclaimed performer, praised especially for her interpretations of Beethoven, with appearances at prestigious venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, and Seoul Arts Center. Born in Korea to a non-musical family, she developed a love for classical music through her father and pursued music education at Seoul National University before earning advanced degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music. Her principal teachers included Nelita True and Boris Slutsky.

Cho has performed as a soloist with major orchestras across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Euro Sinfonietta Wien, and the Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Piano at Michigan State University. Dedicated to Beethoven’s legacy, she is in the process of recording all 32 of his piano sonatas, with her most recent release earning international praise.

A sought-after educator, Cho has given masterclasses at leading institutions worldwide. She is married to physicist Dean Lee, with whom she co-directs the FRIB concert series at MSU. Together, they are passionate animal advocates and live with their three rescue dogs. Cho is fluent in English and Korean and enjoys learning new languages.
