Carlo Maria Giulini (1914–2005) was a distinguished Italian conductor known for his mastery of both opera and symphonic music. Trained in Rome under Bernardino Molinari, he began as a violist and was influenced by renowned conductors like Furtwängler and Klemperer. His conducting debut came in 1944, followed by a role as musical director for Italian Radio. He led the Milan Radio Orchestra and later became principal conductor at La Scala, collaborating with artists like Maria Callas. Giulini later focused on symphonic music, working with top orchestras including the London Philharmonia, Chicago Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was acclaimed for his Romantic interpretations.
