Musical Icons is a reflective album exploring the spiritual and expressive possibilities of the classical guitar, performed by Norwegian guitarist Ole Martin Huser-Olsen. Featuring works by Nordic composers Henrik Ødegaard, Ewa Serafin, and Jon Mostad, the recording engages deeply with sacred themes through contemporary musical language. Ødegaard’s chant-inspired pieces frame the program with meditative clarity, while Serafin’s Lite Rekviem offers an intimate, lyrical reimagining of the Requiem Mass. Mostad’s Musical Icons forms the album’s core, presenting six evocative movements inspired by biblical imagery. Together, the works highlight both the guitar’s expressive range and Huser-Olsen’s sensitive, spiritually attuned interpretations.

Ole Martin Huser-Olsen (b. 1986) is a Norwegian classical guitarist with a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he received the highest mark for his concert exam. He has performed extensively in Norway and internationally, appearing at venues such as Troldhaugen, the Oslo Opera House, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Unerhörte Musik in Berlin. Active as both soloist and collaborator, his repertoire spans Renaissance to contemporary music. He has released several critically noted recordings and was named “Musician of the Year” by the Norwegian Composers’ Society in 2022.
