Kari Løvaas (1939–2025) was a Norwegian operatic soprano known for her refined musicianship and versatile career in opera and concert performance. She was a member of the ensembles at Dortmund Opera and the Staatstheater Mainz, and appeared at international festivals across Europe. Løvaas also contributed to complete recordings of rarely performed operas, helping to broaden the recorded repertoire. Her new album features Lieder by Grieg, Sibelius, and Mussorgsky, performed with pianist Erik Werba. The release forms part of Deutsche Grammophon’s Debut Series, highlighting early recordings by artists who later achieved significant international recognition.
