Steven R. Gerber (1948–2015) was an American composer whose music evolved from a free atonal style to a more tonal yet highly expressive language. Educated at Haverford College and Princeton University, he studied with notable composers including Milton Babbitt and Earl Kim. Gerber gained international recognition through acclaimed recordings of his orchestral, concerto, and chamber works on major labels such as Chandos, Koch, Naxos, and Arabesque. His compositions were performed by leading orchestras and soloists worldwide. Based in New York City, Gerber left a substantial legacy spanning orchestral, chamber, choral, and solo repertoire.

Daniel Boico is an internationally active conductor and educator with a wide-ranging career across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Born in Israel to musician parents and raised in Paris and the United States, he studied conducting with the legendary Ilya Musin at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. Boico has led many of the world’s major orchestras and collaborated with leading soloists, while also championing contemporary music through numerous world premieres. He currently serves as Artistic Director and CEO of the Free State Symphony Orchestra and holds associate conducting posts in South Africa. Boico is also a dedicated teacher, working extensively with young musicians and emerging conductors.
