Irina Chukovskaya, an internationally acclaimed soloist and Chopin specialist, presents a recording of the complete Chopin mazurkas, showcasing her extraordinary technique, nuanced phrasing, and rich tonal palette. Irina Chukovskaya, born in 1958 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, is an internationally acclaimed pianist and teacher renowned for her interpretations of Romantic and modern repertoire, including Chopin, Schumann, Shostakovich, and Kollontay. A prizewinner of the 1980 Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition, she has performed over 400 concerts in the former USSR and toured extensively worldwide, collaborating with eminent conductors and chamber musicians. Educated at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and further mentored by Dmitry Bashkirov and Theodore Lettvin, Chukovskaya combines technical virtuosity with profound musical expressiveness. She has recorded five CDs and recently completed the Chopin Complete Mazurkas, slated for release in early 2025, while also teaching as a visiting professor at Aichi University of the Arts in Japan and giving masterclasses internationally.
