_____________________
This album, conceived by Coline Dutilleul, presents a reflective exploration of existence, wandering, and mourning, beginning with Friedrich Schiller’s question “Schöne Welt, wo bist du?” The program interweaves keyboard works by Johann Sebastian Bach with Lieder by Franz Schubert, creating a musical dialogue centered on themes of melancholy, absence, and mortality. Through contrasts in tempo, texture, and harmony, the selected works evoke shifting inner states that mirror stages of grief, including agitation, renunciation, and eventual calm. The result is a cohesive artistic journey that reflects on resilience and emotional transformation, using Baroque and early Romantic idioms to illuminate profound existential questions.
Coline Dutilleul is a Belgian mezzo-soprano trained at the Royal Conservatories of Mons and Brussels and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where she refined her vocal studies under continued coaching from Elene Golgevit. She has developed an active international career through participation in major young artist programs, including the Britten Pears Young Talent Program and the Lucerne Festival Academy, as well as residencies at institutions such as the Opéra national du Rhin. Dutilleul has appeared at leading venues and festivals across Europe and beyond, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and Teatro Colón, collaborating with conductors such as René Jacobs and Barbara Hannigan. She has recorded for major labels in repertoire ranging from Haydn to Bizet, with acclaimed albums released between 2020 and 2025 that highlight her versatility in both Baroque and Romantic vocal music.
Aurelia Vișovan is an internationally acclaimed Romanian pianist, harpsichordist, and fortepianist, recognized for her versatility across both historical and modern keyboard performance. Winner of the 2019 Musica Antiqua Brugge Competition (fortepiano), she has appeared in major concert halls including the Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Wiener Musikverein, and the Romanian Athenaeum, as well as at leading European festivals. She has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, and is known for her exploration of rare repertoire, including the world premiere of a rediscovered piano concerto by George Enescu. A prizewinner of more than 25 international competitions, Vișovan studied in Romania and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, later earning a doctorate focused on historical keyboard instruments. She currently serves as a piano professor at the Nuremberg University of Music.
