Vadim Gluzman describes his collaboration with the Boulder-based ensemble CORE (COmpass REsonance) as an artistically aligned partnership rooted in shared musical values. In this project, he presents a program that juxtaposes works by Johann Sebastian Bach with compositions by Valentyn Silvestrov, highlighting their spiritual and expressive affinity despite the centuries between them. Silvestrov’s pieces on the album are directly inspired by and dedicated to Bach, creating a dialogue across time. Gluzman emphasizes that both composers’ music is united by purity, clarity, and introspective depth, offering listeners a sense of solace, balance, and hope in response to contemporary global turbulence.

Vadim Gluzman (born 1973) is an internationally acclaimed Ukrainian-born Israeli violinist known for his interpretations of both traditional repertoire and contemporary music. He began violin studies at age seven in Riga, later studying with Zakhar Bron and Roman Šnē before emigrating to Israel in 1990, where he worked with Yair Kless. He continued advanced training in the United States at the Juilliard School under Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki, and was strongly supported early in his career by Isaac Stern. Gluzman performs globally with major orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and is also known for championing works by contemporary composers including Lera Auerbach, Giya Kancheli, and Sofia Gubaidulina. He performs on the historic 1690 “Ex-Leopold Auer” Stradivarius violin, and is widely regarded for combining technical mastery with expressive depth across a broad repertoire spanning the 19th to 21st centuries.
