This remarkable duo album brings together two internationally acclaimed trombonists, Yu Tamaki and Colin Williams, Associate Principal Trombone of the New York Philharmonic. The recording highlights their exceptional artistry through refined tone, outstanding technique, expressive musicianship, and remarkable power. Alongside captivating duo performances, the album features solo works, including compositions by prominent Japanese composers such as Keiko Takashima and Megumi Kanda. Accompanied by pianist Kosuke Akimoto of the Aoi Trio, the album offers a compelling showcase of world-class trombone performance and richly resonant chamber music.

Yu Tamaki is an internationally acclaimed Japanese solo trombonist whose career encompasses performance, education, artistic production, and advocacy for cultural exchange through music. After establishing a successful orchestral career in Japan, Europe, and the United States, he transitioned to a full-time solo career in 2018 and has since performed in more than 20 countries. Renowned for his solo recitals, concerto appearances, and masterclasses, he has collaborated with leading orchestras, appeared at major international festivals, and taught at prestigious institutions including The Juilliard School and New England Conservatory. Currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Osaka University of Arts, he is also an award-winning recording artist, festival director, and dedicated educator committed to expanding the global reach and artistic possibilities of the trombone.

Colin Williams is Associate Principal Trombonist of the New York Philharmonic, a position he has held since 2014, following distinguished appointments as Principal Trombonist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the San Antonio Symphony. Renowned for his exceptional technique, musical sensitivity, and engaging artistry, he has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Equally respected as an educator and advocate for musician wellness, Williams draws on his personal experience overcoming a career-threatening injury to inspire performers worldwide. An accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist, he is also a founding figure behind the internationally recognized Southeast Trombone Symposium and continues to make significant contributions to the global trombone community.
