Film Fest Gent and Silva Screen Records have reissued Cliff Martinez: Music for Film, a remastered compilation celebrating the acclaimed composer’s distinctive cinematic contributions. Performed by the Brussels Philharmonic under conductor Dirk Brossé, the album features Martinez’s signature ambient, texture-rich electronic and percussion scores, newly adapted for a symphonic orchestra. The collection highlights his notable collaborations with directors Steven Soderbergh and Nicolas Winding Refn, alongside works for Paul McGuigan and Robert Redford. Originally released in 2014, this carefully resequenced edition seamlessly balances Martinez's electronic manipulation with orchestral arrangements, offering a refined retrospective of the former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer's film music career.

Cliff Martinez (born February 5, 1954) is an acclaimed American musician and film score composer whose career shifted from rock drumming to cinematic orchestration in the late 1980s. Initially recognized for his rhythm work with alternative acts—including a mid-1980s stint with the Red Hot Chili Peppers that later earned him a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction—he successfully transitioned to screen composition after scoring Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies, and Videotape. Martinez is celebrated for creating sparse, ambient soundscapes and texturally complex electronic tracks. His long-standing collaborations with Soderbergh and director Nicolas Winding Refn have garnered critical acclaim, defining the modern, psychological atmosphere of contemporary cinema.
