Sara Davis Buechner is an internationally acclaimed pianist celebrated for her exceptional technical command, interpretive insight, and expansive repertoire. A prizewinner at many of the world’s leading piano competitions—including the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Leeds International Piano Competition, Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, and International Tchaikovsky Competition—she has performed more than 125 piano concertos with major orchestras worldwide. Her acclaimed recordings have highlighted both standard and overlooked repertoire, while her work championing American music, silent-film scores, and rare piano literature has earned widespread recognition. Beyond the concert stage, Buechner is an educator, author, editor, and advocate, serving on the faculties of Temple University, New York University, and Greenwich House Music School. As one of the world’s most prominent transgender classical musicians, she is also a visible advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, while maintaining a distinguished performing career that spans classical, American, and cross-cultural musical traditions.
