Angela Hewitt (born 1958) is an internationally acclaimed classical pianist, widely recognized as one of the world's foremost interpreters of J.S. Bach. Since launching her career by winning the 1985 Toronto International Bach Piano Competition, she has built an extensive, award-winning discography with Hyperion Records, highlighted by her celebrated cycle of Bach’s major keyboard works and the complete Beethoven sonatas. Beyond her global tours and marathon recital series, like The Bach Odyssey, Hewitt frequently conducts major orchestras from the piano, commissions contemporary works, and directs the annual Trasimeno Music Festival. A dedicated educator, humanitarian, and Companion of the Order of Canada, her profound musical contributions have earned her numerous honorary doctorates, the Leipzig Bach Medal, and an OBE.
