Recorded in the Sounds like Paulin studio, the Quatuor Zaïde’s ninth album on NoMadMusic explores the historic intersection of design and recorded music, a concept born from a collaboration with Benjamin and Alice Paulin. The album bridges minimalism and rock energy, pairing Steve Reich’s Different Trains with Bryce Dessner’s Pulsing. These two powerful works serve as a thematic bridge between tradition and modernity. Driven by a shared urgency, the repertoire reflects on global human and environmental history, juxtaposing Reich's exploration of humanity's past with Dessner's modern response to devastating global fires.

Founded in 2009, Quatuor Zaïde is a distinguished string quartet renowned for its versatile repertoire that connects historical and contemporary works, including premieres by composers like Bryce Dessner. The ensemble quickly achieved international acclaim, securing first prizes at major competitions in Beijing, Vienna, and the Netherlands, and was selected for the prestigious ECHO Rising Stars program. Quatuor Zaïde regularly performs at world-class venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie, collaborates with leading classical soloists, and benefits from the mentorship of Hatto Beyerle. Additionally, since 2018, the musicians have directed the International String Quartets Festival of the Lubéron.
