The album features the stylistically diverse trio of Breton composer and naval officer Jean Cras, which seamlessly integrates North African idioms with nods to Bach and Bartók. This is contrasted by Eugène Ysaÿe’s emotionally demanding Le Chimay and Jean Françaix’s playful, anti-modernist Trio, characterized by its witty yet profound poetic flair. Concluding with an arrangement of Claude Debussy’s timeless Clair de lune, the release showcases the rich historical depth of the string trio medium.
