Roger Bourdin (1923–1976) was an accomplished French flautist, composer, and educator celebrated for his versatility in both classical and jazz repertoires. After studying under Marcel Moyse at the Conservatoire de Paris, Bourdin secured a 27-year tenure as solo flautist with the Lamoureux Orchestra at just 16 years old. A dedicated educator, he taught at the Versailles Conservatory for over three decades and co-founded a prominent flute quartet with Jean-Pierre Rampal. As a composer and skilled improviser, Bourdin produced an extensive body of work, frequently contributing ambient music to radio, television, and cinema recording sessions.

Annie Challan (born 1940) is a distinguished French harpist and composer renowned for her precocious talent and international collaborations. The daughter of composer René Challan, she studied under Lily Laskine at the Conservatoire de Paris, winning the institution's top prize at age 15. She quickly secured prestigious positions as solo harpist for the Concerts Colonne and the Opéra de Paris, where she was the orchestra's youngest member. Challan co-founded a notable harp duo with Suzanne Cotelle and the internationally acclaimed Flute and Harp Duo with Roger Bourdin. Today, she composes extensively for the harp and publishes classical scores through her own publishing house.
