Originally conceived for piano or organ, these works are reframed through a focus on breath, timbre, and variation, offering a renewed listening experience that highlights their structural clarity and emotional depth. Vicens’s interpretations emphasize intimacy and intensity, transforming familiar repertoire into a personal and poetic sound world. The album underscores her ongoing commitment to expanding the accordion’s role within the classical tradition while revealing new dimensions in canonical works.
Fanny Vicens is a pianist and accordionist whose career bridges classical performance and contemporary music, with international engagements as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed at major venues including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Philharmonies of Paris, and the Konzerthaus Vienna, and has collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors. An active chamber musician and ensemble member, she works with numerous contemporary music groups and interdisciplinary artists, while maintaining a strong commitment to new music creation and performance practice. Vicens is also known for developing microtonal accordion innovations and historically informed approaches. She co-founded Espaces XAMP, has an extensive discography, and serves as professor of accordion at HEMU in Lausanne.
