Following Wendepunkt, conductor Pierre Dumoussaud continues his exploration of late German Romanticism with a nuanced program performed by the Deauville Easter Festival Orchestra. The repertoire features a rarely heard three-part work by Max Reger—rich in nocturnal atmospheres and whimsical motifs—alongside two of Gustav Mahler’s major poetic cycles, voiced by soloists Aude Extremo and Stéphane Degout. Presented in an intimate, Viennese-inspired chamber configuration, the ensemble provides a subtle and delicate acoustic framework. This restrained orchestration allows the vocalists to convey profound tales of love and mortality with exceptional clarity, emotional depth, and poetic resonance.

Appointed Musical Director of the Opéra Orchestre Normandie Rouen starting in the 2026–2027 season, Pierre Dumoussaud is an acclaimed French conductor celebrated for his lively, articulate, and expressive technique across opera, symphonic, and ballet repertoires. Since winning the 2017 International Competition for Opera Conductors and receiving the inaugural "Revelation Conductor" award at the 2022 Victoires de la Musique, he has conducted at major European venues, including the Paris Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Zurich Opera. Trained at the Paris Conservatoire, Dumoussaud boasts an award-winning discography focused on 19th- and 20th-century French music, alongside an active international guest-conducting schedule spanning Europe and Asia.
