Rather than providing mere accompaniment, Stölzel’s seamless instrumental writing integrates with the voice to create authentic vocal chamber music. Through a deep engagement with poetic structure and imagery, these compositions successfully translate evocative verse into colorful, sweeping musical narratives.

German-born composer Ingrid Stölzel is internationally acclaimed for her richly introspective, melodic compositions that foster profound emotional connections. Her diverse portfolio spans orchestral, choral, and chamber works, commissioned and performed by elite ensembles globally at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Seoul Arts Center. The recipient of numerous international composition prizes and grants from organizations like New Music USA, her discography includes the award-winning album The Gorgeous Nothings. Stölzel holds a D.M.A. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and currently serves as Associate Professor of Composition at the University of Kansas School of Music.
