Decca Music Group’s new album, Uematsu: Merregnon: Heart of Ice, has achieved a highly successful launch, notably earning the title of "Album of the Week" by Classic FM. Conducted by Eckehard Stier, the recording features the London Symphony Orchestra alongside narration by Academy Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander. The project presents the symphonic fairytale Merregnon: Heart of Ice, marking acclaimed composer Nobuo Uematsu’s first original, large-scale work written specifically for the concert hall. This critical recognition highlights both the innovative orchestral project and Stier's distinguished collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Japanese composer and keyboardist Nobuo Uematsu (b. 1959) is best known for his iconic scores for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series. A self-taught musician, Uematsu joined Square in 1986, collaborating extensively with creator Hironobu Sakaguchi before departing in 2004 to establish his own production company, Dog Ear Records. Alongside freelancing for studios like Mistwalker, Uematsu has arranged orchestral concerts worldwide and performed rock versions of his music with bands like The Black Mages and Earthbound Papas. Widely celebrated as the "Beethoven of game music," he regularly features in Classic FM’s Hall of Fame.

German conductor Eckehard Stier is widely recognized for his stylistic versatility, musicality, and clear artistic vision. Currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, his leadership experience includes seven years as Music Director of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and a decade as General Music Director for the City of Görlitz and the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie. Over his 30-year career, Stier has led more than 80 orchestras across four continents, including the London Symphony and San Francisco Symphony. Complementing his extensive discography and opera repertoire of over 90 works, he frequently collaborates with top-tier international soloists.
