Amor Roma – Cantate barocche per la città di Roma is a specialized musical program dedicated to the Eternal City, celebrating its status as the cradle of Baroque civilization and Latin culture. The project honors the richness of early 18th-century Italian music through a curated selection of chamber cantatas inspired by Roman imagery. By blending celebrated pieces with rediscovered works uncovered through extensive primary source research, the program unites compositions from masters such as George Frideric Handel, Francesco Gasparini, and Antonio Lotti. Melding historical accuracy with a vibrant spirit, this performance offers a sensitive, poetic interpretation of Rome’s profound musical vitality.

Mezzo-soprano Shakèd Bar holds degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and the Juilliard School, where she studied under Edith Bers. A recipient of the Selma D. and Leon Fishbach Memorial Award at the 2016 Handel Singing Competition, she specializes in the Baroque repertoire. Her career features collaborations with renowned conductors, including William Christie, Fabio Luisi, and Fabio Biondi. Also highly active on the concert stage, Bar has performed landmark works such as Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall and Mozart’s Requiem at the Festival della Valle d’Itria, alongside various international festival appearances.
