This album explores the theme of transience through the lens of short-form piano compositions, framing music as the ultimate expression of the intangible and fleeting. Inspired by Konstantin Bal’mont’s poetry, Sergei Prokofiev’s twenty Visions Fugitives, Op. 22 (1915–1917), shift from early playfulness to an apocalyptic, post-revolutionary landscape. This preference for the expressive freedom of the miniature traces back to the Romantic era's rejection of formal rigidity. The collection highlights Clara Schumann’s unconventional Pièces Fugitives, Op. 15, alongside the freer salon styles of Samuil Maykapar’s cyclically unified and Moritz Moszkowski’s virtuosic Pensées Fugitives.

Silvia Carlin is an acclaimed Italian pianist recognized for her refined, communicative interpretations and deep artistic awareness. A winner of the prestigious Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship and numerous international competition prizes, she has performed at top venues like Steinway Hall Paris and as a soloist with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Carlin graduated with highest honors from the Conservatorio Arrigo Pedrollo at age sixteen, later earning master's degrees from the Musik-Akademie Basel and completing advanced studies in Hamburg. A dedicated educator on the Basel faculty since 2019, she also performs globally and co-founded the REVISION Project to rediscover forgotten composers.
