In Renaissance, pianist Shani Diluka takes listeners on a refined musical exploration of the Renaissance era’s humanist movement, featuring works by master composers ranging from William Byrd and John Dowland to Girolamo Frescobaldi and Claudio Monteverdi. Examining the profound influence of Elizabethan and Italian Renaissance traditions on the evolution of European classical music, the project adapts early repertoire—much of it never before performed on a modern grand piano—with delicate sensitivity to the intimate timbres of the harpsichord and clavichord. Shani Diluka, Monaco-born to Sri Lankan parents, is a pianist of rare cultural breadth, bridging Eastern and Western traditions. A prodigy discovered at six through Princess Grace’s talent program, she became the first Paris Conservatoire graduate from the Indian subcontinent, later training at the Lake Como International Piano Academy under mentors like Leon Fleisher and Martha Argerich. Guided by Buddhist values, she approaches music as a path of compassion and humanism. Performing in leading venues worldwide with top orchestras and quartets, her acclaimed discography—ranging from Schubert to cross-cultural projects—reflects intellectual rigor and artistic imagination. A dedicated educator, she also mentors young talents in Sri Lanka.
