Acclaimed classical guitarist Andrew Blanch introduces his fourth studio album, Tierra, a collection exploring cultural interconnection across centuries and continents. The album features music ranging from the Italian Baroque to Romantic-era Spain and 20th-century Latin America. A central highlight is the world-premiere recording of the title track, a vibrant guitar concerto written for Blanch by Chilean-Australian composer Daniel Rojas and recorded with the São Paulo Studio Chamber Orchestra. Showcasing Blanch's exceptional artistry, the repertoire spans from the intricate intimacy of Vivaldi and the Andalusian impressions of Albéniz to traditional rhythms from Mexico, Venezuela, Uruguay, and Brazil.
Praised internationally as a premier classical guitarist, Andrew Blanch is a multifaceted Australian musician and prizewinner in over ten international competitions. His acclaimed discography includes a million-plus-streamed collaboration with harpist Emily Granger. A versatile chamber musician, Blanch collaborates with prominent ensembles, co-directs the Australian Guitar Quartet, and commissions new works by leading composers, including Daniel Rojas's Guitar Concerto No. 1. His innovative projects include the multimedia solo concert Nocturnal and a major 40-concert US tour with mezzo-soprano Maria Eugenia Nieva. Sponsored by Augustine Strings, Blanch also serves as Vice-President of the Classical Guitar Society Sydney.
