The debut album of Korean violinist Hannah Cho, a member of the Vienna Philharmonic, pays tribute to her adopted home of Vienna through the sonatas of Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms. Joined by pianist Srebra Gelleva, Cho performs Mozart’s Sonata No. 21 in E minor, Schubert’s Sonata in A major, and Brahms’s Sonata No. 3 in D minor. This specific selection illustrates the historical evolution of the violin sonata genre. Though the composers' lifetimes did not overlap, their shared musical lineage in Viennese Classicism traces a path from Mozart's early mastery to Schubert's natural integration and Brahms's Romantic maturity.
Internationally acclaimed Korean-American violinist Hannah Cho has established a distinguished global career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral collaborator. After early success in prestigious competitions, including the Michael Hill and Schoenfeld international string competitions, she made her solo recital debut at the Berlin Philharmonie. An alumnus of The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, Cho furthered her European training through the Stauffer Center and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Academy. Now residing in Austria, she is a member of both the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra while remaining deeply dedicated to contemporary ensemble premieres and international music education.
Bulgarian-Austrian pianist Srebra Gelleva is an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and educator based in Austria. An alumnus of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the Trossingen University of Music, and The Juilliard School, she has won numerous international competitions and chamber awards. A dedicated educator at her Viennese alma mater since 2001, she is an official accompanist for elite academies and competitions and is a founding member of both the Lissy Quartet and the Lobkowitz Trio Vienna.
