Born 1966 into a musical family in Muroran, Japan, Makoto Ueno is an internationally acclaimed pianist and educator. He studied under legendary figures at the Curtis Institute of Music and Mozarteum Salzburg, earning top prizes at prestigious international competitions in Maryland, Geneva, Orléans, and Moscow. Renowned for his versatility on both modern grand and historic pianos, Ueno has performed extensively across 15 countries as a soloist and chamber musician. His acclaimed discography spans major labels and features period instruments from the 19th and 20th centuries. Currently a piano professor at Kyoto University of Arts, he frequently serves on international competition juries and conducts global masterclasses.
