Soprano Sonya Yoncheva makes her ONYX label debut with a collection of orchestral songs, accompanied by conductor Domingo Hindoyan. The album highlights Romantic Italian composer Giuseppe Martucci’s La canzone dei ricordi, a 1880s song cycle seamlessly blending Wagnerian and Brahmsian textures with distinct Italian lyricism. Alongside Martucci's vocal work, the recording features two compositions by Joseph Canteloube: Triptyque (1914), dedicated to soprano Maggie Teyte, and the world-premiere recording of his 1912 symphonic poem Vers la princesse lointaine. Unheard since its premiere due to initial French critical resistance toward its Germanic influence, Canteloube's restored masterpiece underscores his brilliant orchestral mastery.

Born in 1981 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Sonya Yoncheva is a celebrated soprano with performance degrees in piano and voice, and a master’s in voice from the Conservatory of Geneva. Winner of prestigious competitions, including Operalia (2010) and multiple awards such as Opus Klassik 2021 Singer of the Year, she has also been honored as medici.tv Artist of the Year (2017) and Officière de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2024). Yoncheva performs at major opera houses worldwide, excelling in roles from Baroque to Verdi, Puccini, and Tchaikovsky. A Sony Classical recording artist, her albums include Rebirth, Handel, and The Verdi Album. Since 2020, she produces concerts through her company SY11.

Born in 1980 in Caracas, Venezuela, Domingo Hindoyan began as a violinist in El Sistema and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra before studying conducting in Geneva and assisting Daniel Barenboim at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. Now Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and former Principal Guest Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony, he has released five acclaimed albums with the RLPO, including Verismo and Venezuela! Music from the Americas! (2024). Hindoyan maintains an active international career, conducting major orchestras and operas worldwide, with upcoming engagements at the Wiener Staatsoper, Los Angeles Opera, Paris Opera, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
