Lorin Maazel (1930–2014) was a highly acclaimed American conductor and composer, known for his precise and dynamic conducting style. Born in Paris to American parents, Maazel began his musical training at a young age and was a child prodigy on the violin and conducting. He made his professional conducting debut at the age of 11 and went on to have an extraordinary career, leading many of the world's most prestigious orchestras. Maazel served as music director of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Vienna State Opera, among others. He was known for his extensive repertoire, which spanned from the standard classical canon to modern works. Maazel also made numerous recordings and was recognized for his technical brilliance and ability to bring out the best in the orchestras he led.
