A gem-like collection of film music by the special ensemble El Cielo 2020, a group dedicated to performing the music of Astor Piazzolla. These film pieces, once performed quietly among members, are now released as an album in response to strong demand from fans. The album features timeless classics such as The Godfather, often performed as an encore to their all-Piazzolla programs, as well as iconic works like Cinema Paradiso, Sunflower, the poignant piano melodies of The Legend of 1900, and the beloved standard My Favorite Things. Piazzolla’s Ave Maria, also featured on their second album, returns here in a newly arranged version. This album offers a deeply moving experience of the very essence of film music.

El Cielo 2020 is a quartet formed to perform Piazzolla’s works, consisting of piano, violin, cello, and contrabass. With the intensity of Piazzolla’s music intact, the ensemble brings a modern touch to his style, representing a new era of performance. Meanwhile, Triptyque—featuring the same violin, piano, and cello members—explores a wider musical world beyond Piazzolla.
