New album from acclaimed pianist William Hobbs presents works by Greek-Canadian composer Christos Hatzis (b. 1953)and the enigmatic Indian-English composer Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji (1892–1988). The two composers share a fluidity of melodic and rhythmic treatment in their music that is rooted in the Western classical tradition but refracted through a lens of Eastern thought. The results are vastly different but equally compelling. They also share a penchant for exploring their spiritual selves in their compositions, which is amply represented in the music on this recording.

William Hobbs is an American pianist, conductor, and educator born in Austin, Texas. He earned degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Eastman School of Music, studying piano and conducting with notable teachers. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, collaborating with artists like Yo-Yo Ma and James Galway. Hobbs has worked at major opera houses including the Opéra National de Paris and the Salzburg Festival. He teaches at institutions such as Juilliard, Peabody, and Montclair State University, and is Founder and Artistic Director of Opera Slavica. His discography includes recordings for Albany, Naxos, and Bright Shiny Things.
