Eitetsu Hayashi’s first album in 18 years marks the pinnacle of his taiko artistry, showcasing his matured sound in an all-new recording. As the debut of the Ultimate Sound Series—an audiophile continuation of the Super Sound Adventure Series—the album emphasizes sonic excellence and deep bass resonance. Hayashi is joined by Eitetsu Fuun no Kai, a dynamic ensemble of top young taiko drummers founded in 1995, known for powerful performances and intricate soundscapes. Featuring guest artists Fujiwara Dozan (shakuhachi) and Fujisha Takao (noh flute), this album delivers an extraordinary fusion of traditional Japanese instruments in a breathtaking, high-fidelity recording.

Eitetsu Hayashi, Japan’s premier solo taiko drummer, has revolutionized the art of taiko through groundbreaking solo performances and innovative techniques. Born in Hiroshima in 1952, he was a founding member and leading performer in renowned groups Sado Ondekoza and Kodo before pursuing a solo career in 1981. His pivotal performance with Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony in 1975 launched international acclaim. Hayashi has since collaborated with orchestras and artists across genres, from jazz to modern classical, performing globally at venues like Carnegie Hall and Berlin’s Waldbühne. Creator of the unique “O-Daiko” soloing method, Hayashi continues to expand taiko’s expressive range through compositions, taiko theatre, and educational efforts, marking over 45 years of artistic innovation.
