Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins dedicates his Deutsche Grammophon debut, For Arvo, to Estonian composer Arvo Pärt in honor of his 90th birthday in September 2025. The album combines Pärt’s original piano works with Osokins’ own transcriptions of iconic pieces such as Fratres, Pari intervallo, and Fragile e conciliante. Through this program, Osokins traces Pärt’s creative journey from avant-garde complexity to the luminous simplicity of his Tintinnabuli style, seeking to capture the moment of the composer’s artistic transformation. Recorded on a century-old blue Steinway grand, the album offers a distinctive sound world rich in overtones and atmosphere.

Born in Riga in 1995 to a family of pianists, Georgijs Osokins studied with his father, later training at Juilliard with Sergei Babayan and in Düsseldorf with Georg Friedrich Schenck, while also receiving guidance from artists like Daniel Barenboim and Gidon Kremer. He rose to fame at 19 as a finalist in the 2015 Chopin Competition, leading to invitations from major venues worldwide. Celebrated for his individuality, rich sound, and freedom of expression, Osokins performs a wide repertoire from Bach to Pärt. A noted arranger and chamber musician, he collaborates frequently with Gidon Kremer. In 2025, he became the first Baltic pianist signed exclusively to Deutsche Grammophon.
