The Wunderhorn Lieder evoke childhood memories, irony, folk-inspired charm, and melancholy, while the Kindertotenlieder confront profound grief over the loss of a child with restrained poignancy. Accompanied by the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne under Jordan de Souza, Richter brings subtle artistry and emotional depth to these works, infusing them with a personal, nuanced perspective. Her interpretation highlights both the tenderness and the searing pain within Mahler’s music, offering listeners an intimate and powerful experience.

Born into a musical family, Anna Lucia Richter (b. 1990) began her career as a soprano before shifting to mezzo repertoire in 2020. A laureate of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust, she is acclaimed for her versatile artistry in opera, concert, and song, blending baroque clarity with romantic depth. Her repertoire ranges from Bach, Schubert, and Brahms to Mahler, Strauss, and contemporary composers. She has sung at major houses including Salzburg, Berlin, Vienna, and Amsterdam, and collaborates with leading orchestras under conductors such as Haitink, Fischer, and Järvi. A celebrated recitalist, festival guest, and recording artist, she also teaches masterclasses and serves as cultural ambassador for Casa Hogar Deutschland e.V.
