Home, guitarist Emmanuel Rossfelder’s new album recorded in Normandy, reflects a deeply personal return to essentials. Across 20 tracks, Rossfelder revisits the influences that shaped his artistic path, from his earliest encounters with Chopin and Schumann, through the guidance of mentor Alexandre Lagoya, to discoveries of Sor and Ponce, and lullabies inspired by fatherhood. Showcasing his virtuosity through original transcriptions, the program blends memory and emotion in an intimate musical journey. Two contemporary pieces—Nagoya by Christophe Julien and After the Fall by José Pavli—add fresh voices, enriching this luminous portrait of Rossfelder’s wide-ranging musical world.
Emmanuel Rossfelder, one of today’s leading French guitarists, entered Alexandre Lagoya’s class at the Paris Conservatoire at age 14, becoming its youngest student. He won First Prizes in guitar and chamber music, with Lagoya praising his sound, virtuosity, and expressive depth. At 20, Rossfelder earned the FMAJI First Prize and later received major honors including ADAMI’s “Révélation Classique” and the 2004 Victoire de la Musique Classique as Instrumental Soloist of the Year. He has since toured internationally, performed with renowned orchestras under distinguished conductors, and recorded Rodrigo’s concertos and diverse solo works. Also active as a teacher, he is professor at Paris’s École Normale de Musique.
