The Aalborg Symphony Orchestra under Henrik Vagn Christensen presents Royal Danish Concertos for Brass by Thorvald Hansen (1847–1915), Mogens Andresen (b. 1945) and an arrangement of a flute sonata by Morten Raehs (1702–1766) in the style of Maurice Andre. Henrik Vagn Christensen (b. 1963) studied conducting at the Royal Academies of Music in Aalborg, Aarhus, and Copenhagen, with further training in Stockholm and London. He debuted in 1994 with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and has since built a versatile career spanning opera, symphonic music, musicals, and contemporary works. Renowned as Denmark’s leading ballet conductor, he has led the full classical and romantic ballet repertoire with the Royal Danish Ballet, touring internationally. He has also conducted at major Scandinavian opera houses and New York City Ballet. Christensen’s discography includes numerous recordings with the Danish National Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
