Violinist Hyeyoon Park, winner of the 2009 ARD International Music Competition, is acclaimed for her artistry as both soloist and chamber musician, performing with leading orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony and London Philharmonic. Her Linn debut album Silenced, with Gergely Madaras and the WDR Symphony Orchestra, explores composers who defied oppressive regimes. Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, once banned under Stalin, and Henriëtte Bosmans’ emotionally charged Concert Piece—written in response to personal loss and political exclusion—form the program’s core. The recording concludes with Shostakovich’s exuberant Variations Op. 3, offering a striking contrast of passion and resilience.

Hyeyoon Park studied in Seoul, Cincinnati, Berlin, and at the Kronberg Academy with Christian Tetzlaff, completing her Master’s in 2016 supported by the Nikolas Gruber Stipendium. A versatile soloist, she has performed with leading orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony, Montreal Symphony, NHK Symphony, Mariinsky Orchestra, and Hallé Orchestra. Renowned for her expressive tone, she has appeared at major festivals such as Marlboro, Wigmore Hall, and Evian, collaborating with artists like András Schiff, Gidon Kremer, and Beatrice Rana. Park premiered Mark Bowden’s Concert Piece and released The Lark Ascending with Benjamin Grosvenor on Decca in 2022 to critical acclaim.
