This eleventh volume features three early piano concertos Mozart composed between 1771 and 1772, based on keyboard sonatas by his mentor J.C. Bach. Written in the elegant galant style, these youthful works show Mozart’s ingenuity in adapting sonata material into the concerto form, blending formal discipline with creativity and charm. The recording also includes the Overture to Mitridate, re di Ponto (1770), composed when Mozart was just fourteen, and music from Ascanio in Alba, commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa. Completing the program are the Overture to Lo sposo deluso (1785) and five incidental pieces from Thamos, König in Ägypten, Mozart’s only theatrical incidental music.
