Gilda Ruta (1853–1932) was a remarkably versatile Italian musician whose life spanned two continents and two centuries. Born into a distinguished musical family in Naples, she was trained by Francesco Saverio Mercadante and achieved early recognition as both performer and composer. After a brief withdrawal following marriage and widowhood, she resumed a successful career, gaining acclaim for her piano works and art songs. Awarded a Gold Medal for composition in Florence in 1890, she later emigrated to the United States, where she became an influential performer, educator, and advocate for women in music. Long overlooked in Italy, her legacy is now undergoing renewed appreciation.

Elisa Rumici is an Italian pianist and researcher active in performance, music dissemination, and artistic research. She regularly appears in prestigious venues across Europe and has performed as a soloist with orchestra in works by Mozart, Schumann, and Beethoven, collaborating with ensembles and conductors such as Baldur Brönnimann and Håkon Stene. A committed advocate of contemporary music, she has premiered and recorded new works and released several critically noted albums. Winner of numerous international prizes and supported by the Cusanuswerk Stiftung, she holds advanced degrees from leading European institutions and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, presenting her research internationally.
