This program presents a vivid panorama of 20th-century European music, featuring works from Russia, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, and Poland. Through stage scenes, miniatures, dances, and impressionistic textures, it highlights poetic expression and rhythmic energy within an intimate chamber setting. Arrangements from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet open the journey with dramatic contrast, followed by the wit of Tailleferre and the lyricism of Schoeck and Horovitz. Penderecki’s concise miniatures and Lutosławski’s Dance Preludes bring the program to a dynamic close, uniting folkloric vitality with refined compositional craft.
