The album features 20th-century compositions for the viola d'amore performed by Ewa Pilarska-Banaszak. The album opens with Stefan Bolesław Poradowski's "Concerto in the Wood Style, Op. 10 for Viola d'amore and String Orchestra," in which the soloist is accompanied by the Capella Musica Gnesnensis, led on violin by Radosław Kamieniarz. To illustrate how the viola d'amore functioned in Europe in the first half of the 20th century, the next recorded composition is Paul Hindemith's "Kleine Sonata, Op. 25, No. 2." The album closes with Witold Rowicki's "Sonata in the Old Style," composed in 1942. In these two pieces, the soloist is accompanied on piano by Monika Woźniak.
