Sound of Adventure marks the City Light Symphony Orchestra’s return under Kevin Griffiths, following the success of Spotlight on John Williams. This double album celebrates iconic film music that captures the spirit of adventure, imagination, and emotional depth central to Hollywood cinema. Spanning from Golden Age composers such as Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Miklós Rózsa to contemporary scores from Solo and Rogue One, the programme traces the evolution of the adventure genre. Featuring London Voices and soloists Alexandre and David Castro-Balbi, the recording showcases richly orchestrated themes performed with energy, colour, and expressive power.
Founded in 2018 in Lucerne as part of the City Light Concerts label, the City Light Symphony Orchestra is a flexible project ensemble dedicated primarily to film music. Drawing on professional musicians from Switzerland and neighboring countries, the orchestra adapts its size to each project and collaborates with internationally experienced conductors such as Kevin Griffiths, Anthony Gabriele, Ernst van Tiel, and Thiago Tiberio. Since its debut at KKL Luzern, the orchestra has presented numerous world and European premieres and acclaimed live-to-film performances. Its programmes highlight the artistic breadth and emotional impact of film music, complemented by classical and crossover projects.
