Anna Lapwood begins 2026 with the release of Arise, Shine, a deeply personal choral album marking her final project as Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge, a position she held for nine years. Conducting the Chapel Choir for the last time, Lapwood presents a varied programme that blends traditional sacred repertoire with contemporary works, including two original compositions by herself and pieces by emerging composers such as Maryam Giraud, Lucy Walker, and Maggie Kaposamweo. The album reflects her commitment to mentoring young musicians, fostering creative collaboration within the choir, and championing opportunities for women and girls in music, culminating in a project that celebrates the warmth, ambition, and identity of Pembroke’s Chapel Choir.

Anna Lapwood, born in 1995, is a British organist, choir director, and media presenter known for her boundary-breaking contributions to classical music. She is the Royal Albert Hall’s official organist, Artist in Association with the BBC Singers, and will end her tenure as Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge in 2025 with an all-night BBC Prom. A passionate advocate for the organ, she combines classical and contemporary music, working with artists like Florence + The Machine and Benedict Cumberbatch. A best-selling Sony Classical artist and social media star, she champions music education and gender equality in the arts.
