_____________________

The Salzburg Wind Philharmonic emerged from the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg, founded in 2002 by Hansjörg Angerer at the Mozarteum University. Bringing together faculty, students, and graduates, the ensemble was created to perform original wind compositions and symphonic arrangements at a level comparable to major orchestras, thereby advancing the symphonic wind repertoire. Under Angerer’s artistic leadership, the orchestra developed a distinctive sound and achieved significant artistic success in concerts and recordings. In 2022, it became an independent, non-profit organization under its current name, continuing its mission to promote art and culture at the highest professional standard.

Dany Bonvin, born in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, is an accomplished trombonist who studied under Branimir Slokar at the Music Academy in Bern. He has received numerous accolades, including prizes at international competitions in Vercelli and Toulon, and the 1986 Swiss Soloist Prize. At just 17, he became principal trombonist of the Munich Philharmonic. Bonvin has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, and Bern Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Munich Trombone Quartet, performs with the “Blechschaden” ensemble, and serves as professor of trombone at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
