_____________________

The Salzburg Wind Philharmonic emerged from the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg, founded in 2002 by Hansjörg Angerer at the Mozarteum University. Bringing together faculty, students, and graduates, the ensemble was created to perform original wind compositions and symphonic arrangements at a level comparable to major orchestras, thereby advancing the symphonic wind repertoire. Under Angerer’s artistic leadership, the orchestra developed a distinctive sound and achieved significant artistic success in concerts and recordings. In 2022, it became an independent, non-profit organization under its current name, continuing its mission to promote art and culture at the highest professional standard.

Hansjörg Angerer, born in 1955 in Rattenberg, Tyrol, is a distinguished horn player and conductor. He studied in Innsbruck and Salzburg, refining his skills under Hermann Baumann and Edgar Seipenbusch. After performing with the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra, he became a respected educator, holding professorships at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Music in Nuremberg. Angerer has appeared internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, earning acclaim for recordings, including Mozart’s Horn Concertos. Since 2002, he has shaped the Salzburg Wind Philharmonic into a leading ensemble through distinctive interpretations, acclaimed recordings, and notable performances, including premieres and widely broadcast concerts.
