The Salzburg Wind Philharmonic emerged from the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg, founded in 2002 by Hansjörg Angerer at the Mozarteum University. Bringing together faculty, students, and graduates, the ensemble was created to perform original wind compositions and symphonic arrangements at a level comparable to major orchestras, thereby advancing the symphonic wind repertoire. Under Angerer’s artistic leadership, the orchestra developed a distinctive sound and achieved significant artistic success in concerts and recordings. In 2022, it became an independent, non-profit organization under its current name, continuing its mission to promote art and culture at the highest professional standard.
Albert Schwarzmann, born in 1968 in Innsbruck, is a horn player, conductor, and arranger. He studied horn at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and conducting at the Tyrol Regional Conservatory in Innsbruck. Schwarzmann has focused extensively on symphonic wind music, producing over 400 arrangements for various orchestrations. Since 2006, he has taught instrumentation and arrangement for wind orchestra conducting at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In addition to his academic work, he independently publishes his arrangements online, contributing significantly to the repertoire and development of wind music.
