This recording highlights the bassoon works of Antonio Vivaldi, emphasizing their interpretation through original manuscript sources from Turin. It presents a historically informed approach that showcases the instrument’s tonal richness and technical brilliance in Vivaldi’s later compositions. Bassoonist Miho Fukui performs alongside Ensemble F, reflecting Vivaldi’s flexible use of solo parts across reed instruments such as the bassoon and oboe. Using period instruments and supported by modern musicological research, the recording successfully merges scholarly insight with expressive performance, offering an authentic and engaging perspective on these notable Baroque works.

Miho Fukui is a Japanese musician specializing in both modern and Baroque bassoon and oboe performance. She began studying bassoon at twelve and trained at the Tokyo University of the Arts under Yoshihide Kiryu. She later continued her studies in Europe with prominent teachers and developed a focus on Baroque music, studying at institutions including the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Fukui has participated in major masterclasses and performs internationally across Europe and Japan. She has appeared as a soloist and recording artist, and in 2009 founded Ensemble F, dedicated primarily to the bassoon concertos of Antonio Vivaldi.
