Håkon Austbø, born in 1948, is a distinguished Norwegian classical pianist with a career spanning over five decades. Recognized early for his exceptional talent, he has performed internationally to critical acclaim. Renowned for his interpretations of Olivier Messiaen and Alexander Scriabin, Austbø combines musical and visual elements, notably in innovative performances of Scriabin’s Prométhée. His close association with Messiaen contributed to prize-winning performances, including the Messiaen Competition in 1971. A versatile and exploratory artist, he has collaborated across disciplines and pursued research into musical interpretation. Austbø has received numerous international awards and continues to perform, teach, and record extensively.
